"A Wee Tea, Books
& A Blether"
This is the third year of the event. The 10k trail race takes place in the picturesque village of Gartmore and the nearby Loch Ard Forest and is open to people of all fitness levels aged 16 years and older. The Fun Run is open to all ages - under 11s must be accompanied by a responsible person.
10k - The route starts in the heart of Gartmore Village – It runs along Freuchan lane into the Wee Wood and from there crosses over the field, and into Loch Ard Forest. From there it is a circular route with good views of the Menteith hills and Ben Lomond. The route is mainly run along forest fire tracks and a few short connecting forest footpaths and pastureland which can be muddy in wet weather.
Fun Run – The starting point is the same as the 10k running along Freuchan lane into the Wee Wood. It then crosses over the bridge and follows the Blarnabord track back to the public road returning to Gartmore.
On Friday, September 6th Gartmore Community Cinema intends to screen the Taggart episode "Compensation" which was filmed in and around Gartmore, but in the murder mystery is known as Fenmore.
We will be showing this as a benefit for Cancer Research UK, and ALL proceeds, including door entry and ALL bar sales, will go directly to CRUK.
Alex Norton who appeared in the episode playing DCI Matt Burke, has kindly agreed to a brief introduction to this special screening, and we hope that as many of the community as possible will support the event and this worthiest of charities which has special significance for so many homes and families in our community.
